About 1791 he married Ann Frizelle, and they had the following children: Nancy Hooker (1792– 844), Elizabeth Hooker (1794–), Joshua Freeman Hooker (1795– 866), Frances Hooker (1797– 1830), Chloe Hooker (1799–1876), Benjamin Hooker III (1801–1875), Rebecca Hooker (1803–1830), Jonathan Frizelle Hooker (1805–1885), Matthew H. Hooker (1809–1884), Mary (Polly) Hooker (1811–1841), and Sarah (Sally) Hooker (1813– ). The first few of their children were born in North Carolina, but the family moved to Wilson County, Tennessee before 1810 and some were born there.
Benjamin died in Gladewater, Wilson, Tennessee and was buried in the cemetery which now bears his name.
