Mary Louisa Ruth was born December 19, 1885, in Durham, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Milton Deemer Ruth and Amanda Campbell Trauger. She was also the granddaughter of Peter Shaffer Ruth & Lucy Ann Deemer, as well as Joseph and Sarah Campbell Trauger. On November 30, 1905, in Hellertown, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, she was married to John Rentzheimer Bachman, son of Titus Overbeck Bachman and Mary Jane Rentzheimer. They were the parents of 3 children: baby boy who died in infancy, Irene Ruth and Joan Louise Bachman. Mary passed away September 10, 1968, in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, and was buried in Hellertown Union Cemetery, Hellertown. Mary Louisa Ruth Bachman was my great-grandmother. She died when I was 4 years old.

"Mrs. John R. Bachman. Mrs. Mary L. Bachman, 82, of 243 E. Church Street, formerly of Hellertown, died this morning in Allentown Osteopathic Hospital. She was the widow of John R. Bachman. Born at Durham, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Amanda Trauger Ruth, and was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Hellertown. She was also a member of the Women's Guild of the Church, the Ladies of Golden Eagles of Hellertown, and Calypso Chapter 163 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Bethlehem. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Irene Parsons of Allentown, and Joan Louise Bachman, at home; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Boehm, of Hellertown; three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be announced by Lester S. Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street."
