According to a news article that appeared Tuesday, January 21, 1890 Paper: New Haven Register (New Haven, Connecticut) Dr. Candee served as a surgeon in the War of 1812. Additionally, Dr Candee is one of only 2 War of 1812 Veterans buried at Forest Home Cemetery.
