Peter married Martha Jane Crowell 2 May 1852 in McDonough County, IL. Martha was born 11 November 1834 in Rome, Ashtabula County, Ohio and died 25 December 1910 in Farmington, IL. On Christmas day her skirts caught fire from the stove, Peter couldn't save her and was badly burned as well.
They had seven children:
