NORTH LITTLE ROCK --Vernon Clyde Shepherd, 85, of Keo (Lonoke County), died February 13, 1998, at the Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock.

Born July 30, 1912, at Keo, he was the son of the late Ed Shepherd and Edna Bell Elliott Shepherd.

He was a retired ice house engineer and a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at Sheridan. He was also a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by two sons, the Rev. Cecil Shepherd and Nick Shepherd.

He is survived by three sons, Paul Shepherd of Mabelvale (Pulaski County), Jim Shepherd of Alexander (Pulaski County) and Danny Shepherd of Sheridan; two daughters, Lillian Sisson of Mabelvale and Verna Schweitzer of Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan with the Rev. Michael Walton officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery at Sheridan.
