Verna G. Schweitzer, 65, of Independence, passed away, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence.
Verna Gail Shepherd was born November 29, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas the daughter of Clyde & Versa (Henning) Shepherd.
She served in the U.S. Marines Corps.
On December 22, 1970, she married Samuel Schweitzer in Twenty Nine Palms, California.
Survivors include her husband, Sam; son, Adam (Mellisa) Schweitzer and daughter, Jennifer (John) Bell, all of Independence; grandchildren, Alex Carlson, Olivia Siglin
and Alexis Schweitzer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the V.F.W. Post #2440, Independence.
