Monday evening October 2, 1882 at eight o’clock Clarissa Charlotte Campbell died at the residence of her father, James P. Campbell, three miles east of Romney. Lottie was the third member of the family to suffer from that dread disease, consumption, two of her sisters having died previously of it, and what is strange there can be found no trace of consumption on either side of the parents. Lottie was the only girl of the family remaining at home and was the comfort of her parents in their declining years. Her death, though not unexpected will be a severe blow to them, and mourned by the whole community. The funeral took place from Chizum Chapel Wednesday morning. Rev. Mikels preaching the sermon. (Monday Oct 9, 1882)
