Micheal Holly Jewell, the son of Holly Bonwell and Mildred Hansen Jewell was born August 16, 1945, at the Jewell Clinic in Perry, Iowa and died January 27, 2012 at his home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 66 years, 5 months, and 11 days.

Mike was baptized at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon and later baptized and confirmed as an adult Catholic at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa.

He attended school at Viola Center and later Audubon Community Schools, then graduated from the Marshalltown High School in Marshalltown, Iowa with the Class of 1964.

In June of 1964, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas.

On May 29, 1965, he was united in marriage to Mary Helen Frances Pille at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Three sons were born to this union.

While in the service Mike was stationed in Korea, Hawaii, Missouri, Wisconsin, and San Antonio, Texas. He was a Personnel Manager his entire career. Mike was honorably discharged on June 1, 1985 after serving over 21 years.

They lived in San Antonio, Texas where Mike worked various jobs. In February of 1991 they moved to Boerne, Texas where he managed a Bed and Breakfast for several years. They moved to Audubon in October of 1996 where he and his sons Kevin and Jeff opened Cousins Sports Bar and Grill. They operated the restaurant until his health failed and they closed the business in 2009.

Mike was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon.

He was a life long member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Mike loved to cook. He enjoyed calligraphy, putting models together and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed Christmas and always decorated the restaurant. But most of all, he enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Holly Jewell; his step-father James Rogers; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Clarence and Esther Pille; his brother Steven T. Jewell; and his brother-in-law Michael Street.

Survivors include his wife Mary Jewell of Audubon, Iowa; his sons: Steven and wife Jammie Jewell; Kevin and wife Tricia Jewell all of San Antonio, Texas; Jeffrey Jewell of Lowellville, Ohio; his grandchildren: Justin Jewell and Tyler Jewell both of San Antonio; and Austin Jewell of Lowellville; his mother Mildred Rogers of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his step-mother Esther Jewell of Lincoln, Nebraska; his brothers and sisters: Eric and wife Jane Rogers of Council Bluffs; Scott and wife Lynne Rogers of Underwood, Iowa; Merridy and husband Mick Rogers of Sykesville, Maryland; Elise and husband Nile Fiala of Des Moines, Iowa; Bryon Jewell of Lincoln; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Dale and wife Barb Pille of Scottsdale, Arizona; Judy Street of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
