Infant [7 mos.] daughter of Mary Ann Phelps and LDS Apostle Charles Couldon Rich.

Laura's infant half sister, Eliza Ann Rich, was buried at Utah's First Pioneer Burial Ground, one block east of the Old Fort in February of 1849, just 3 months prior to the death of this infant.

Since no other record or burial place has been identified, it stands to reason that Laura Esphena (Exphena) would also be buried there, where their paternal grandmother was also laid rest in 1847.

Thus, the original interment of Laura Esphena Rich was made at "Block 49", or Utah's First Pioneer Burial Ground, one block east of what would later be called the Old Fort. All remains at that site were reintered here, at Old Deseret Village Pioneer Cemetery, in 1986.
