William L. Johnson, 78, died Sunday, June 21, at his residence in Franklin. Mr. Johnson was born in Williamson County. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army-Air force. He was employed with the former S.E. Farnsworth & Co. from 1945-1961. He then went to work as a maintenance supervisor over the Pump Stations with the City of Atlanta from 1962-1982. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Mai Johnson. Survivors include two sons, Ken Johnson of Nashville and John Johnson of Warner Robins, Ga.; daughter, Brenda Johnson of Franklin; three brothers, Arthur Byrd Johnson of Franklin, Herbert Johnson of the Burwood community and Neil Johnson of Franklin; seven sisters, Lucille Rainey of Franklin, Opal Primm of Brentwood, Wilma Heithcock of Thompson's Station, Judy Sweeney of the Burwood community; Jean Johnson of Franklin and Linda Stofel of Hoover, Ala.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were Frank Roberts, Gary Sullivan, Clem Fisher, Nance Fisher, Terry Primm, Neil Davis, J.R. Wells and James Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Primm, Leslie Eley, Jimmy Merritt, Everett Barnard, Richard Marlin and Tim Akin.
