On March 20, 1941, Berthetta Norline Flemmons was born to the proud parents of George and Mary Flemmons in Tullahassee, Oklahoma. Both her parents and two children, one son Bobbie and one daughter Carolyn Ridge, three brothers, James, Booker T., G. W. Flemmons - one sister Willester Flemmons all preceded her in death.
Bertha received her education through the Tullahassee, Oklahoma school systems. Later in her life, she met and married Marvin M. Ridge and through this union eight children were born. Bertha accepted Christ at an early age in her life. She was a faithful member of Parchester First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Harold. Bertha was an outgoing, loving, understanding, and forgiving person. In early November 1993, she became ill. All during her illness, she held onto her faith in God. She fought a hard battle and came out with the victory and went home to be with the Lord.
Bertha will be truly and deeply missed by all of us. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, six children: Marilyn Wolverton, Barbara Ridge, Tracy Ridge, and Mae Wilson, all of San Pablo, California; Donna Jackson of Hercules, California and Marvin M. Ridge III of Richmond, California. Four sons-in-law, Robert Wolverton, Norris Robinson, Keith Jackson and James Wilson, one daughter-in-law, Andrea Ridge, five sisters: Georgia mae Gasque of Baltimore, Maryland, Ida B. Jones of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Carrie Grayson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Liberia Miller of Minnesota, and Dorothy Flemmons of Tullahassee, Oklahoma; one brother, Richard Flemmons of Minnesota, five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, thirteen grandchildren, one aunt, and ahost of cousins, nieces and nephews. A special friend, Rubin Williams and many, many other friends.
After her death at the age of 53, Berthetta's funeral was held Tuesday, August 9, 1994 - 11:00 AM, Parchester First Baptist Church in Richmond, California with the Rev. Joseph Harold, Jr., officiating. She is buried at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in El Sobrante, California.
