Phillip Schwindt Dead
Phillip Schwindt, of Lone Star Township, died in the Hays Hospital. Complications having set in following an operation for appendicitis.

JOHN PHILLIP SCHWINDT
Phillip was the forth oldest child of Martin Schwindt and Katherine Elizabeth Lehl in a family of four boys and three girls. His Father passed away at the early age of 41, and his Mother nine years later. He was about eleven years old at the time of his Father's death, and a grown young man at the time of his Mother's death.
In 1897, at the age of 25, he was married to Louise Schlitt in Norka, Russia. This marriage was blessed with two sons and two daughters.
An older brother, John, had preceded him to this country and persuaded him to follow. So in 1900 Phillip, his wife, and young son Peter came to this country and settled near Bison, Rush County, Kansas.
He found employment on the farm with others of his countrymen as a hired hand. In this capacity he spent several years and finally took up farming on his own. He remained on the farm until the time of his death. He passed away in 1920, probably due to a ruptured appendix, and was laid to rest at LaCrosse, Kansas.
