The son of Fred J. & Matilda (Tillie) Lavinia Sparger. Tatum married Nina Howell in 1931 and they had one son. Tatum was a businessman who retired and moved from Greensboro, NC to Brunswick County, NC. He died as a result of a car wreck in Brunswick County.
