She managed restaurants in Chicago and Nashville and worked for many years as a seamstress in New Jersey. Helen was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro. She also was an avid gardener and was well-known for always wearing a hat. She loved entertaining friends and family and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
On Sept. 20, 1945, she married Charles R. Grzybowski, who preceded her in death in July 1999.
Mrs. Grzybowski is survived by a brother, Charles Hardy and wife, Lucy, of Maryland; two sisters, Peggy Rogers and Martha Little of Mississippi; numerous nieces and nephews; and two her sisters-in-law and caretakers, Anna M. Grzybowski and Carolyn A. Yankoski. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Tat Hardy, Thomas Hardy and Donnie Hardy; and five sisters, Faye Acree, Marion McMillen, Sara Bailey, Loris Aldridge and Edna Mae Harris.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro with Father Rolo Castillo officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. A rosary service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. Visitation will follow until 9 p.m.
