Ellis -- Simon Bollig, 85, died June 20 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born June 22, 1916, at Ellis, the son of Jacob P. and Eva Spies Bollig.
He married Mary Kuhn July 31, 1939, at Ellis.
A resident of Ellis, he was a farmer and rancher. Bollig was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis, former member of the Ellis Saddle Club, and American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Rosetta Deutscher of Hays; two brothers, Richard Bollig of Great Bend, and Gilbert Bollig of Clayton; two sisters, Mary Reinert of Denver, Colo., and Georgine Windholz of Thornton, Colo.; two grandsons; and four great grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore "Buddy' Bollig, and Daniel Bollig. Vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Revs. Kevin Weber and Galen Long officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
