Evelyn Rodriguez 1/14/1935 - 4/2/2012 Our precious mother was called to heaven by our Lord Jesus on April 2, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at her home in "Barrio Hollywood", where she proudly resided. Preceded in death by parents, Manuel and Rita and adored grandson, Stephen, Jr. (Vano). Evelyn leaves behind her devoted husband of 60 years, Emilio and ten caring children, Emilio, Jr. (Barbara), David (Connie), Priscilla (Frank) Castro, Oscar (Sylvia), Luis (Michelle), Anthony (Beatrice), Michael (Angie), Stephen, Sr., Brenda (Jim) Sabados, Sandra, as well as four sisters, two brothers, 34 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also are several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members plus numerous friends and neighbors. Mom was a loving devoted wife, an adoring mother and the "greatest Nana" ever. We will always treasure the fond memories we made together as a family: traveling the beautiful countryside and abroad, annual Easter camping trips to Happy Valley; watching mom plant her favorite spring flowers for her garden every year; spending fun-filled weekends watching sports on TV; all things we enjoyed. Most noted was the constant support and encouragement you provided to your grandchildren in sports and activities they ventured at, attending their functions with pride and great enthusiasm. Most of all mom, we will miss your famous tortillas (with butter), your delicious beans and your special tasty sweetened iced tea. You prepared these daily with love. What a great cook you were, the best! Your unconditional love, patients and guidance brought us comfort. Mom, you will always continue to be the center of our world. Embracing your deep heart-felt love will remind us of your unforgettable smile and your infectious laughter, which will forever live in our hearts. Thank you for being dad's wife, our mom and nana. We were so lucky to have you in our lives, missing you deeply - but never forgotten. We love you mom. We now have an angel smiling down upon us. Memorial Services will be held at Carrillo Mortuary South Chapel, 204 S. Stone on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Visitation from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered at St. Margaret's Church, 801 N. Grande on Friday, April 13, 2012, 10:30 a.m. Entombment will immediately follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd.
