George E. Holm, 84, passed away Saturday, April 7th, in Abilene. He was born February 9, 1928 in Dwight, Kansas, the son of Ivar E. and Birttie E. (Harris) Holm. Growing up in Dwight, he attended local schools and graduated from Dwight High School. He was a WW II Naval Veteran. On January 12, 1951, he married Betty J. Arney in Topeka. The early years of their married life was spent in Dwight. From 1962 until 1969 they lived in Emporia where he was employed by Dick Handy Chevrolet Olds. In 1969 he purchased Larsen Chevrolet in Ellsworth, later adding Olds-Pontiac-Buick dealerships. In 1983, he sold the business to his son Jeff, moved to Abilene and purchased Racy Chevrolet-Olds-Cadillac. In 1993 he retired, selling the business to his son Tim. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty, in 2008. He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. He was a member of the Abilene First Presbyterian Church and the Ellsworth Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services will be held 10:15 A.M. Thursday, April 12th, at the Abilene First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Robert H. Frasier officiating. Interment will be in the Dwight Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the Danner Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to the Abilene Community Foundation. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
