Michael Eugene Brannen, 59, passed away Monday, August 22, 2005 after a battle with cancer at University of Florida Shands in Gainesville. Michael spent most of his life in the Cocoa-Rockledge area and served in the US Army. He was employed by Lockheed-Martin in technical operations building maintenance at Cape Canaveral and was a gifted craftsman. He is survived by his mother, Ruth E. Brannen of Rockledge, his father and step-mother, Dennis M. Brannen and Mary of Damascus, AR, his daughter, Rebecca Alesio of Palm Bay, his dear friend and former wife J. Phyllis Brannen of Melbourne, his sisters, Denis Weenig of Baton Rouge, LA, Brenda Barefield of Gainesville, Marsha Fowler of Willis, TX and Sally McDonald, also of Willis. A step sister, Kathryn Young of Damascus, AR and one granddaughter, Ashley Alexio of Palm Bay, as well as a wealth of other family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wylie-Baxley Rockledge Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, in the funeral home chapel. Internment will follow in LaGrange Cemetery.
