James Edward Attaway, age 82 of Montgomery, Louisiana, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

Mr. Attaway was a native of Durant Oklahoma and owned and operated Atlanta Grocery in Atlanta, La for twenty five years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Attaway was the son of the late Claude Attaway and the late Gladys Knowles Attaway. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Collins Attaway, three brothers Claude Attaway Jr., H. W. Attaway, and Tom Attaway.

Survivors include One son Jim Attaway of Jena, and two daughters Ginger Funk and husband Mathew of Winnfield, and Susie Waters and husband J. D. of Montgomery. He is also survived by five grandchildren Adam Waters Paige Waters Bryant, Hailey Waters, Lindsay Attaway, and Bart Attaway, two great-Grandchildren Kason Lashley and Kailey Sue Ammons, twow sisters Evelyn Aston and Wanda Rogers both of Dallas Texas.

Funeral services for Mr. Attaway will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 12 in the Chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield with Dr. Ray Teal officiating. Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery near Winnfield.

Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
