Irene Rosella (Vargason) Tigges (86) went to be with her Lord on April 6, 2012. She died at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND.
Irene Rosella Vargason was born on July 10, 1925 on the family farm near Deer Creek, MN to Orrin and Belle Vargason. Irene attended school in rural Deer Creek, MN.
On May 23, 1943 she married Norman Walter Martin. They had one daughter Karlene Kay Martin. On January 3, 1951 Irene married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Tigges. They made their home in St. Paul, MN.
Irene always loved to work, she had several jobs in her working days. She was involved in church at St. Anthony United Methodist Church in St. Paul. Irene was synonymous with helping. Her friends always knew they could count on Irene for anything from cooking to cleaning to just listening when they needed her. She enjoyed crafts, friends, and absolutely lived for her family. She lived in St. Paul until Bob's death March 6, 1994. In August of 1994 she moved to Fargo, ND to be close to and enjoy her family.
Irene will be deeply missed by her daughter Karlene (Ken) Elfstrum, two grandsons Kevin (Lora) Elfstrum, Fargo; Kraig (Lisa) Elfstrum, Chicago; her great gandchildren, Kailey and Kendall, Chicago; Alexis and Anna, Fargo; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orrin & Belle Vargason, husband Robert, two sisters, Myrtle Whiting and Ilo Whiting, niece Marilyn Peterson and nephew Stanley Whiting.
Irene's family will be directing memorial gifts to Rosewood on Broadway.
Prayer Service Monday, April 9, 7:00 pm and Memorial Service 10:30 am, Tuesday April 10 at Faith United Methodist Church, 909 19th Ave N, Fargo, ND. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, St. Paul, MN at a later date.
