Orrin Herbert Vargason, 89, Wadena, formerly of Deer Creek, died Monday at Lake Region Hospital. Services were held today at The Howard Folkestad Funeral Chapel, Wadena, with the Rev. Robert Hawkinson officiating. Burial was in Inman Township Cemetery.
He was born June 19, 1883, in Hazelton, Iowa, the son of Charles and Orena Vargason. He married Rosa Belle Fletcher in Clitherall September 1, 1909, and they farmed near Deer Creek until 1947, when they retired and moved to Henning.
Mr. Vargason was a school board clerk and a member of the creamery board for many years. He moved to the Henning Nursing Home five years ago.
Surviving are five daughters, Myrtle Imogene Whiting, Violet Marie Whiting, and Hazel Belle Whiting, all of Independence, Missouri; Grace Arena Persons, Deer Creek; and Rosella Irene Tiggs, St. Paul; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
