Floyd Baker, 82, railroad lineman
Floyd C. Baker, 82, of 634 E. Frederick St., died Friday morning at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.
For 37 years he was a lineman and power director, first for the former Pennsylvania Railroad and later Conrail and Amtrak. He retired in 1979.
Baker was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, was an usher, and served with the evangelism program and other church volunteer services. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Born in Watsontown, he was the son of the late Ollie R. and Marie K. Whalen Baker.
He was married to Betty C. Bryson Baker for 59 years on Oct. 9.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Neil H. of Bettendorf, Iowa; a daughter, M. Marie, wife of Paul D. Bucher of Penryn; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a brother, W. Eugene of Chesapeake, Va.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard, and a sister, Loretta.
