Herman L. Moore, 80, formerly of Abilene, Texas, went to his heavenly home on July 8, 2001, in a VA hospital in Dallas, Texas, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Jones County, Oct. 6, 1920. He moved to Ballinger, Texas at an early age where he met and married Rosa (Callie) Walker in 1941. Mr. Moore served in World War II, where he was captured and served in a POW Camp for several months. He retired from Civil Service at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX. While living there he was a coach for Little League Baseball, Football and gave of his time working with young men at the YMCA.
Herman and Rosa moved to Clyde, TX where he went to work with the City of Abilene. He retired from the City Maintenance Dept. as a mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosa; four brothers; and three sisters.
