Wife of Colorado & Texas cattle baron, John Nathan Hittson. They were married on July 8, 1851, in Henderson, Texas. She successfully raised nine children on the turbulent Texas frontier of Palo Pinto County; Fort Davis in Stephens County and Fort Cooper during the Civil War; and homesteading in Deer Trail, Colorado in 1868.

Salena was the granddaughter of American Revolutionary War veterans. She and her young Aunt Martha Brown married the Hittson brothers. Their lives contributed to the western expansion of America, to the Texas and Colorado frontier, and the growth of Denver, Colorado.
