Mrs. James Cooper
Lucina Adeline Evans was born in Oneida county. N.Y., Feb 11, 1820 and died in Arbela, Oct, 19, 1912, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Elva Thompson, where she made her home. She was united in marriage to James Cooper on August 20, 1838, at Liverpool, N.Y., and to this union thirteen children were born, nine boys and four girls.
She also took the place of mother to four grandchildren, Mrs. Bell Baldwin of Clio, Claude Cooper of Midland, Mrs. Alcena Sergent of Birch Run, and Harley Cooper of Midland.
Eight children, two sisters, Mrs. Henry Thompson of Arbela and Mrs. Adeline Patchen of New York, and six brothers, Charles and Manford Cooper of Birch Run, I.E. Cooper of Midland, H.C. Cooper of Montrose, James Cooper of Detroit, George Cooper of New York, one sister, Mrs. A. D. Rundlet of Clio, and forty-five grandchildren, with many great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn her loss.
Mrs. Cooper suffered the hardships of pioneer life with courage and patience, always having a pleasant word for everyone. She was loved by all who knew her and was a model friend and neighbor and an ideal Christian mother.
The funeral took place Monday Oct, 21, 1912, at ten o'clock at the residence, Rev. N. Butler officiating. Interment was made in Birch Run Cemetery.
