She was born on June 18, 1918, in London, England and was a daughter of the late James and Charlotte Cox Hindle.
On April 16, 1947, she married Gilbert F. Brown, who died on Feb. 20, 1966.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Irene Brown Foltz of Stanley; a son, James Edward Brown Sr. of Richmond; two stepsons, Allen Frances Brown of Florida and Milton S. Brown of Mississippi;
a brother James Hindle of Bucks, England; five grandsons and three great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Hindle; and two sisters, Margaret Hindle and Charlotte Hudson.
Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery in Manassas.
