DEATH CLAIMS W. LANGWORTHY

Wayne Langworthy, well known in Clare County, was born in Pennock, Sept. 3, 1903. A year later his parents, George and Nora (Wood) Langworthy settled on their farm in Sheridan township. Wayne grew up on the farm and attended the Carrow school, except for two years when the family operated the Colonville General Store.

After he left the farm, Wayne was employed by the Buick Motor Company in Flint. But he loved the out of doors and at various time in those earlier years he was associated with his brother - in-law, Robert Shull in the purchasing and supplying of live stock and other activities.

For the past more than twenty years he had been a transport truck driver. The big trucks and the long highways were a challenge that he enjoyed. He had transported cars into almost every area of the Continental United States and had drove well into his second million miles. From his employers, Commercial Carriers, Inc. he had received numerous safe driving citations. He was courageous, kind and courteous and made friends everywhere.

Lately he had planned to retire on a farm in Clare county, but he was stricken suddenly on May 10th of this year. And, although apparently recovering and continuing to be up and active he soon realized that his strength was failing rapidly. Still no word of disappointment or complaint passed his lips nor ever showed in his demeanor. His smile retained it's cheering, comforting quality for those who loved and were losing him.

He entered the Flint Osteopathic Hospital Monday evening July 22nd, and, although every effort had been made since May 10 to and him, nothing availed, and he departed this life Wednesday July 24th.

Surviving, are his wife, Olive, two daughters, Mrs. Gerald Kenny of Santa Maria California, and Mrs. David Gayou of Flint. Six sons, Ray of Flint, Don, Gerald, and Clair of Clio, Robert of Clare and Lyle of Mt. Morris, 21 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Murray Lemmen of Flint and Mrs. Beatrice Shull of Clare.

Funeral was held from the Mt. Vernon Chapel of Brown Funeral Home in Flint, Rev. Ernest Burk officiating. Burial was in Cherry Grove Cemetery at Clare.
