Obituary:
Cleone O'Neill, daughter of the late Joseph and Loretta Cherry O'Neill was born in Shullsburg, Nov. 3, 1913, and passed away at the Ennis hospital on June 20, 1940, reaching the age of 26 years and 17 days. After her mother's death, she and her brother, Clifford, made their home with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Roth, who tenderly cared for them, giving them all the comforts of a happy Christian home.
She attended the Sister's school where she completed the grades, later graduating from the Shullsburg high school with the class of 1932.
On Jan. 3, 1934, she was united in marriage to Stanley Davis of Scales Mound, and to this union two children were born, Loretta and Charles. She leaves to mourn her passing, her sorrowing husband, two little children, a brother, Clifford, her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Roth, two half-sisters and a half-brother. She also leaves a devoted mother- and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Davis, and a sister, Mrs. June Harwick, besides a host of sincere friends who mark with keen regret the passing of a true friend.
The largely attended funeral services were held from the Ed. Roth home to St. Matthew's church, Shullsburg, on Saturday morning Rev. Fr. Guccione, pastor of the Holy Trinity church at Scales Mound, of which she was a member, said the Mass of Requiem.
Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery at Shullsburg.
