Anna Wilhelmine (Schauer) (Ahrens) Johnson, of Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota, died at the age of 102, on Sunday, January 09, 1994, at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 11, 1994, from 10:00 a.m. until Noon, at the Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and for one-hour prior to the funeral services in the church. Funeral services for Anna were held at 2:00 p.m. from the Church of Christ in Redwood Falls. Burial was in the Redwood Falls Cemetery, which is located just north of Redwood Falls.
Anna Wilhelmine (Schauer) (Ahrens) Johnson was born on October 27, 1891, in Mapleton, Blue Earth County, Minnesota, to Charles Julius and Emilie (Nimz) Schauer. In 1900 (at the age of 8), Anna lived in Sterling, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Her father was a day laborer. In 1910, the family moved to Morton, Renville County, Minnesota, where Anna was employed as a servant for a private family. On September 06, 1911, at the age of 20, Anna was married to Henry August Ahrens. By the age of 28, Anna had three children (Alvina, Ada and Irvin). The family lived in Morton, Beaver Falls, and then in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Another son, Dale, was born 2 years later.
Anna married her second husband, Cecil B. Johnson, on June 30, 1955, in Redwood Falls. They separated about a year later.
Anna worked for many years as a waitress and she was an excellent seamstress. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Redwood Falls. In approximately 1974, Anna moved into the first apartment at Lakeside Manor in Redwood Falls. She resided at the Wood Dale Nursing Home from July 15, 1988, until her death.
Anna was survived by three children: Alvina Amy (Ahrens) Goblirsch of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Ada Margarete (Ahrens) (husband, Thomas Joseph) Rohlik, of Bayport, Minnesota, and Dale John (wife, Margaret) Ahrens, of Baltimore, Maryland. Also surviving were 16 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Rugg, of Hawley, Minnesota. Anna was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry August Ahrens; a son, Irvin Leroy (Bud) Ahrens; two brothers, William Edward and Arthur Otto Schauer; one step-brother, John Frederick Janzig; four sisters, Amelia (Schauer) Chase, Minnie K. (Schauer) Hendricks, Dorothy (Schauer) Hackman, and Olga R.(Schauer) Dahlstrom; and, one half-sister, Augusta Wilhelmine (Janzig) Krueger.
