Dale John Ahrens was the second son, the fourth child, and the last child born to Anna Wilhelmine (Schauer) and Charles August Ahrens. Dale was born on 10 November 1922 in Redwood Falls, Redwood County, Minnesota. He joined the United States Navy, at the age of 17, and served from April 1940 to December 1945. Dale married Loretta Margaret Brown in about 1947. They had 4 children: Beverly Gale, Walter Eugene, Bonnie Marie, and Gary Ahrens.

Dale John Ahrens married Margaret Amelia (Fritz) Oneil in about 1961. Margaret was born on 29 October 1921 and she died, at the age of 75, on 26 July 1997 in Baltimore, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Although Dale and Margaret had no children, Margaret had 6 sons and 4 daughters from her first marriage to Charles R. Oneil.

Dale enjoyed dancing, fishing, and hunting and he lived in Brooklyn Park, Maryland, for 47 years.

Dale John Ahrens was 83 years old when he died of cancer, after a year and a half battle, on 19 August 2006. He died at his home in Brooklyn Park, Anne Arundal County, Maryland.

Survivors included 5 sons, Charles Oneil of Ellicott City, Robert Oneil of Pasadena, Gary Oneil of Brooklyn, Walter Ahrens of Salisbury, and Dennis Oneil of Glen Burnie; 6 daughters, Margaret Hickman of Ohio, Peggy Slouck of Brooklyn Park, Connie Andrews of Churchville, Verna Kramer of Ellicott City, Beverly Haydt of Pennsylvania, and Bonnie Ahrens of Pasadena; 52 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Amelia Ahrens; and 3 sons, Gary Ahrens and Harry and John Oneil.

Funeral services were held on 22 August 2006 at the Gonce Funeral Service in Baltimore, Anna Arundal County, Maryland. Internment followed in Glen Haven Memorial Park, Glen Burnie, Anne Arundal County, Maryland.
