Mrs. Brown, widow of H. Gilbert Brown Sr., died October 14, 2001. Born in Gillisonville on October 8, 1908, she was a daughter of the late Stannieslaus T. Horton and Sarah Helen Ulmer Horton. She was a dietitian for the Williamsburg County School System and a clubhouse manager for the Okeetee Hunting Club. Mrs. Brown was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro. She was active in many civic clubs and charitable organizations.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, H. Gilbert Jr. (Betty Jane) Brown of Chapin; daughter and son-in-law, Angeline (Archie) Dorrel of Lexington; brothers, Edward Horton of Okatie, Frank Horton of Ridgeland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
