Funeral services for Gladys Marie Wyatt, 91, of Purcell were held April 4, 2012 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Wyatt passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at her home.

She was born on May 29, 1920 in Hector, Arkansas. She was the 11th child of 16 children born to William Porter Story and Susanna Ertice (Voss) Story. In her younger years, Gladys grew up in Hopping Community east of Wayne. Then during her teenage years she lived in the Stealy Community southwest of Purcell.

At the age of 20, she married the love of her life, Leonard Carl Wyatt of Purcell. They were married on July 13, 1940 in Washington. Gladys and Leonard raised two children, Linda and Mark. She proudly worked as a homemaker and as a farmer's wife, while living on a farm west of Purcell.

She was an active member of the Purcell Pentecostal Holiness Church for nearly 60 years. Some of her favorite things to do were gardening, sewing and quilting. She will be remembered as a wonderful Christian woman who loved her church and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. P. and Sudie Story; her husband, Leonard C. Wyatt on Feb. 16, 2002 and 13 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Mones and husband, George, of Mesquite, Texas; son, Mark Wyatt and wife, Cyndi, of Purcell; one sister, Joyce Birdwell of Pauls Valley; one brother, Lonas Story of Pauls Valley; one sister-in-law, Virginia Story of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Greg Mones and wife, Katie, of Fayetteville, Ark., Lisa Yerks and husband, Shawn, of Indianapolis, Ind., Grant Mones and wife, Christi, of Mesquite, Texas, Michael Wyatt of Purcell, Zachary Wyatt and wife, Lupita, of Norman, Jordan Strawn of Oklahoma City and Alyssa Lafferre of Purcell; five great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Ashton, Davis, Manning and Braden and many other loving relatives and friends.
