John Albert Smeltzer died at his home in Hopewell on Saturday, September 6, 1941. He was born in Bedford county, December 13, 1862, the son of Joseph and Hannah Smith Smeltzer. He was married twice, the first time to Alice Cartright and the second time to Mrs. Elizabeth Long, both deceased.
He is survived by two step children, James H. Long and William H. Long, both of Cypher, and by two nieces and three nephews.
He was a member of the Methodist church and Hopewell I.O.O.F. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 9 at 2 p,m. at the residence conducted by Rev. George B. Morgan, of Huntingdon and Rev. Lilly, of Hopewell. Interment in the Hopewell cemetery under the direction of Balentine's Funeral Service.
