Howard Barefield, 97, Cayce Street, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Covington's Convalescent Center following a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, with the Rev. Gary Childress officiating. Burial will be in Lander Cemetery, Christian County. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:30 until time for the service.
A native of Trigg County, he was born April 30, 1905, the son of the late Samuel and Magdaline Stewart Barefield. He was a retired farmer and was retired from employment at Western State Hospital. A member of the Buffalo Lick Baptist Church, he attended Living Hope Baptist Church. His wife, Elsie Bennett Barefield, died last Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Kent and Larry Barefield,and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Lick Baptist Church or Living Hope Baptist Church.
