John Batey, 77, Forsyth, Dies
FORSYTH, MT. --- John William Batey, 77, a rancher on lower Rosebud Creek near Forsyth, died Sunday at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.
Mr. Batey was born Feb. 23, 1886, in Miller, MO., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Batey.
He came to Montana in 1908 and homesteaded near Angelea, MT., north of Miles City, in 1912.
He moved to the Rosebud Creek Ranch in 1935.
He married Harriet Rambow June 26, 1922, in Miles City.
He is survived by the widow, two sons, Robert and Donald on the home ranch; a daughter, Mrs. Carol Wenholz of Kodiak, AK.; two brothers, George Batey of Billings and Walter Batey of Millier; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Kibby of Miller and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beal's Chapel in Forsyth, MT.
The Rev. Wayne A. Larson of the Methodist-Presbyterian Federated Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Forsyth Cemetery, Forsyth, MT.
