Maurine Beaman, 98, formerly of Guymon, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Golden Oaks Nursing Center in Enid, Okla.
The oldest daughter of Dan and Ina (Stewart) Haffner, she was born April 14, 1913, at her grandparents' home near Haviland, Kan. Maurine graduated high school from Walsh, Colo., president of her class.
She attended Panhandle A & M College and received her two-year teaching certificate and later her life teaching certificate.
Maurine married Dwight Beaman in June 1940, and they made their home in the Eva Community.
During the forties they farmed, and became active in Masonry and Eastern Star. Maurine loved her Eastern Star work and the close friends she made during her many years of involvement. She was elected as Worthy Grand Matron of Oklahoma in 1967.
She was also involved in the flower club at Texhoma, Home Demonstration Club, and was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Guymon until she moved to Enid in 1995.
After her husband's death in 1965, Maurine moved into Guymon and worked at the Guymon hospital for the next 16 years. She moved to the Golden Oaks Retirement Center in Enid in 1995.
Maurine loved her friends, traveling (visiting all seven continents), needlework, yard work and her Purple Martins.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dwight; her brother, Jean Haffner; and her sister and brother-in-law, Don and Lovina Dale, and her niece Kay Frances Hays.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Peggy Haffner of Springfield, Colo., and her nieces and nephews: Douglas Dale, Deborah Headrick, Carroll Dean Beaman, Mary Ann Johnson; Jean, Danny, Leslie and Jimmy Haffner and their families.
A memorial service has been set for Maurine for Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. to take place at the Golden Oaks Chapel in Enid. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to ESTARL (Eastern Star Organization), Big Brothers Big Sisters or a charity of your choice.
