Dorothy was born and raised in Philippi, West Virginia and graduated from West Virginia University in Morgantown. She was a Mother of five children and worked as a public school teacher for more than 43 years. She taught in West Virginia, Maryland and California. When she finally did retire from teaching, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and traveling abroad with her friends.
