The Fonda Times - Thursday , September 26th, 1974 - Funeral services for Martin A. Lilly, 78, were held today (Thursday) at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Rev. John Brennan officiated with burial following at Mount Zion Cemetery.
A longtime resident, Mr. Lilly died Tuesday at his home. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Lilly, Martin A. Lilly was born October 13, 1895 at Newell, Iowa. He came to Fonda in 1912 and attended the Newell and O.L.G.C. schools. Mr. Lilly was a World War I veteran and was united In marriage to Margaret McGrath at Fonda in 1923. He worked as a contractor doing carpentry work for 20 years retiring in 1968.
Surviving are his widow, Margaret; 3 daughters: Mrs. George Green of Springfield, Nebraska,
Mrs. Louis Kelly of Marathon and Mrs. Robert Weiler of Columbus, Nebraska. Also surviving are a son, Tom of Cedar Rapids, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
