Mrs Nancy C Oms

Mrs Nancy Castle Smith Oms 88, an early day resident of Maple Valley, where the town of Mapleton, Ia now is situated died Saturday at her home, 310 W Fifth street, after an illness of more than two years.
Mrs Oms was born October 28, 1861, in Brown county Ind. She came with her parents as an early day settler to Iowa in 1865.
She resided in the Mapleton vicinity until the spring of 1924 when she moved to a farm near Souix City. About four years ago when she came to Souix City.
Mrs Oms became a member of the Baptist church at Mapleton when a child. She was a charter memeber of the Maple Valley Rebekah lodge and held a life memebership in the organization.
In 1910, she was married to Charles Oms. A daughter, Mrs Sylvia Smith, died in 1934.
Survivors in addition to the widower are a brother, William Castle of Souix City; three grandchildren, including Mrs Clarence F Taft of Souix City and a graet grandchild.
The body was taken to the Anderson funeral home.
