Clarice Broussard Routhier, 92, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012 at her home in Westlake.
She was born in Mamou and lived in Westlake the past 62 years. She was a graduate of Kinder High School and was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Mrs. Broussard-Routhier was also a member of the Altar Society and the Rosary Group. She was also a member of the ABWA and she won the ABWA boss of the year award. She was the owner of Broussard's Grocery in Westlake for more than 30 years. She enjoyed RV traveling and sight seeing. Clarice was a great cook of rice and gravy, vegetables, and baked goods. She was a very hard worker with lots of energy and tremendous faith. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her sister's children lovingly called her Aunt "Tootie" and she was known as "Granny" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clarice is survived by her sons, Ricky Broussard and wife Cathy of Houston, TX, and Brian Broussard and wife Tammy of Moss Bluff, LA; daughter, Debbie Hogan and husband James of Moss Bluff, LA; grandchildren, Candice Broussard Murchison, Christopher Chad Broussard, Shonda Hogan Dardeau, Rachel Broussard, Seth Hogan and Simon Broussard; great grandchildren, Jackson Broussard, Kennedy Murchison, Sawyer Paige Broussard, Ainsley Murchison, Julianna Dardeau, Carsen Dardeau and Cora Broussard.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Murphy Broussard and Romeo Routhier; her parents, Tonice and Mary Richard; and her sister, Anna Bertrand.
Her Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Rev. Albert Borel will officiate. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake and a Scripture and Rosary service will be at 6 p.m.. Visitation will also be Wednesday before the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The family would like to give a special "thank you" to her many sitters for their dedication and loving care; especially Mary Mouton and Bobby McCraney.
