Reuben Atkins was born on 20 Dec 1832 (know the marker says 1833) in Coventry, Warwickshire, England.

He married Eliza H. Poulton. She was born on 25 Mar 1830 Coventry, Warwickshire, England and died on 17 Nov 1893 Aurora, Kane, Illinois, USA.

Reuben was a Latter Day Saints convert, married and had three sons in Salt Lake City and was preaching the good book when something went awry. He and family headed to Illinois where he became a shoemaker. His son Charles owned a huge profitable farm with quite a house on it. When Charles neared the end of his life, he put the farm on the market. Some city slickers from "in town" bought the place sight unseen as a retreat. Not until the day of closing did anyone realize that Charles & Alma's only son's, my grandfather, wife's parents (Gerberichs) were the buyers! The Gerberichs in Spring Lake are the brothers & wives of my great grandfather who went to a couple of the funerals there and never realized that is where his daughter's in-laws were buried.
