1860 U.S. Federal census, enumerated 18 June 1860 - James E. Nutt is living in the household of his older brother Noel B. Nutt.

James E. Nutt was a soldier during the Civil War for 3 months 28 days. While a resident of Eastport, Maine, he mustered into service 19 October 1861 as a Private in Company D, First Maine Cavalry. His tombstone is engraved Co. A, 15th Me. Regt. He was discharged 16 February 1862. He only lived another 2 years 8 months 9 days past his discharge date. Cause of death is unknown.
