As a youth crossed the plains to bring emigrants to Utah, and was also with a company engaged in missionary labors amount the Indians. He spent a successful life as a farmer and stock grower and lived at Hamblin in the late 1880's. By his marriage to Sarah Westover, he had eight children. He was murdered over a herd of cattle by a Mr. Rich. The murder was ruled a suicide, but he was shot with Mr. Rich's gun and robbed of his cash.
