"It was in 1856 that the community decided to build a Methodist-Episcopal Church and connect it to the cemetery that had already been in use since 1851. Landy Alford donated five acres for the church and expanding cemetery. The tragic irony is that the Landy's precious 3-year old daughter, Sarah, died that December at the time the first services were held in the stone church. Her grave marker can be seen to this day at the cemetery, Inscribed on top reads "Sarah Alford, daughter of Landy & Sarah Alford of Suisun Valley, died December 1856".
She was the first burial in the cemetery since the land was donated.
Aged 2 years 11 mos. 4 days.
~~It is rumored that William, the infant son of Landy and Sarah said to be buried in the "Stone Cairn" over the grave of Sarah.
