Paul Babcock Munson II died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the age of 92 from injuries sustained in a single-car accident. He resided for 46 years in Duanesburg, N.Y., with his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Dennison) Munson.

He was born in Albany, N.Y., October 5, 1919 to Frances Van Deventer Munson and Samuel Lyman Munson Jr. Paul and his three siblings lived on Chestnut St. and later Providence St. Upon his father's untimely death, his mother established Mrs. Munson's Dancing School. Paul attended the Albany Academy for Boys and graduated from the Lenox School. He achieved his B.A. at Bard College, and his master's at Columbia Teachers College. He served his country in World War II where he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Paul began his teaching career at Hickory Ridge School in Putney, Vt. He went on to teach English at Phillip Livingston Junior High School in Albany, N.Y. His love of music brought his baritone to the Capitol Hill Choral Society, where he met his wife Barbara. The two lived in Albany until 1965, when they moved to Duanesburg with their three children. Paul completed his teaching career at Cobleskill High School. Upon retirement from teaching, Paul and Barbara opened the Attic Antiques. Paul was a member of Christ Church Episcopal of Duanesburg. Throughout his life he remained faithful to his Christian beliefs and principals, and lived a life of devotion to the church.

Paul loved nature, people, and especially children. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Dennison); daughter Judith (Glenn) Doell; and son, Paul (Teresa) Munson III; and three grandchildren, Hannah, Olivia and Paul IV. He was predeceased by his nine-year-old daughter, Rachael; his sisters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Shultz, and Francis (Nancy) Allenby and his brother, Samuel Lyman Munson III.

A service to honor his memory and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, Duanesburg, N.Y. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the church hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Episcopal, Duanesburg, N.Y., Duanesburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps or Paul's family requests that a tree be planted in his memory.
