Mrs. Allenby was born in Albany, N.Y., and graduated from St. Agnes School in Alban the Elliott Pearson Nursery Training School in Boston. She was a preschool teacher in Denver, Alban at the Grace School in New York City.As a member of the Junior League of Albany, she participated in a variety of volunteer activities. She also assisted her mother with what were known as Mrs. Munson's Dancing Classes. She had a great love of dance and dance music and always had a list of more than 50 songs in her wallet that she delighted in having piano players and dance orchestras play for her.
In 1959, she and her husband moved to South Braintree from Denver. In 1963, the family moved to Mount Hermon School for Boys, now the Northfield Mount Hermon School, where her husband joined the faculty. Fifteen years later her family moved again to Stamford, Conn., where her husband took a position at the King School for Boys. In 1988 upon his retirement, they moved to Falmouth.
Besides her husband, survivors include three children, Peter of Brooklyn, N.Y, Stuart of Turners Falls and Deborah Albert of Falmouth a brother, Paul Munson of Delanson, N.Y. and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held May 27 at First Congregational Church of Falmouth. Burial is private. Memorial donations may be made to Doane Stuart School of Albany, Route 9W, Albany, N.Y. 12202 or JML Care Center.
