WILLIAM MAXWELL ABBEY, son of Roswell and Elizabeth (Truslow) Abbey, born in New York City, March 8, 1826; died in Geneva, N. Y., April 24, 1897; buried in Woodlands, Pa.

He was an early and prosperous merchant of Philadelphia and his leisure hours were devoted to art.

Married in Philadelphia, December 21, 1848, MARGERY ANN KIPLE, bom in Buckingham Township, Bucks County, Pa. only daughter of Jacob and Jane (Clancy) Kiple;died in Philadelphia, April 15, 1880.
