Ernst Sebelien, 73, formally of Durant, died Thursday, September 27, 1956, at the Wilton Nursing Home in Wilton, after a long illness.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 1, at Frick Funeral Home in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Ernst Sebelien was born June 23, 1883, in Cedar County, the son of Carl and Wilhelmine (Reich) Sebelien. He received his education in the Cedar County schools. He married Hilda Peters on August 21, 1929, in Davenport. Together they farmed in Cedar County, north of Durant, until they retired in 1945 and moved to Durant. He later became a resident of the Wilton Nursing Home in Wilton. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Durant.

Surviving are his wife, Hilda; one sister, Anna Vollsen of Durant; and one brother-in-law, John Leese of Durant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rudolph Sebelien and Herman Sebelien, one sister, Caroline Leese and one brother-in-law, Peter Vollsen.
