He was born July 30, 1938 in Trading Post, Kans., the son of Ollie F. and Alice (Smith) Wurtz. The family moved to Wyoming in 1945 where Donal graduated from Thermopolis High School. He attended college studying servicing of transmissions.
He married Jessie Gene Hunt in Thermopolis and for several years they moved back and forth from Thermopolis to Seattle, Wash. The couple divorced in 1968. Donal purchased a home in Kirby in 1972 where he owned and operated a junkyard for several years. He worked on and sold cars, did carpentry and remodeled his home.
In 1978, he married Valerie Murain. In 1989, the family moved to the Casper area where he lived until his death.
He enjoyed working on cars, playing games on his computer and being with family.
He was preceded death by his parents; son, Donal Lee Hunt; and daughter, Alice M. Wurtz Prosser.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie of Midwest; three children, Karl of Thermopolis and his twin sister, Kathernia Tanner of Texas and Lelia Burchett of Thermopolis; four step-children, Steven, Nadine, Misty and Jody; eight siblings, David, Dale and Dean Wurtz of Idaho, Danny, Dennis and Duane of Wyoming, and Dorothy Wurtz and Doris Hess of Wyoming. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren: Joshua Hunt and Andrew Tanner of Washington, Sheridan Donald, Shylow Barber and Levi Tanner of Texas, Christy Meier, Suzzanna Tanner, Echo and Stan Burchett, Paul, Phillip and Patrick Wurtz, Daynon Weaver and Christopher Prosser of Thermopolis and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Mortimore Funeral Home on Saturday, March 31 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
