Nellie Frances "Nanny" Southers, 73, of Boiling Springs Lakes, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

She was born in Buena Vista, Virginia, on October 11, 1934 to the parents of Charles and Mary Hartless, youngest of ten children.

She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Robert Hartless, Gladys Robinson, Lewis Hartless, Fred Hartless, Virginia Chittum, Pauline Clevenger, and Dorothy Coleman.

Nanny worked for the Army Exchange in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After retiring in 1977, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Alvey, with whom she shared 56 wonderful and fulfilling years; two sons: Eugene and wife, Donna; Ronald and wife, Theresa, Fayetteville, NC; a sister, Marjorie Berry, Glasgow, Virginia; a brother, Tom Hartless, Bishop, CA; six grandchildren: Eric, Corey, Damara, Jason, Keaton and Christian; three great grandchildren: Ethan, Madisyn and Jennsen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Bishop Doug Larson officiating.

A graveside service will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
